Range Rules

1.    ALWAYS keep your gun pointed in a safe direction.

  • Safe Direction is NOT towards anything you don't want to destroy.

2.    ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.

  •  Your Trigger finger should be placed on the frame of the gun above the trigger and trigger guard. 
  • Only once you have chosen your target and the gun is pointed down range should your finger be placed on the trigger.
  • Once shots are fired your finger should be removed from the trigger and placed back on the frame of the gun.

3.    ALWAYS keep your gun unloaded until ready to use

  • ALL firearms should be unloaded when transported to the shooting stations.
  • Firearms should be placed on the shooting benches with the muzzle pointed down range.
  • When placing targets no one should be handling their firearms, they must be placed on the table.

4. Hearing and Eye Protection Required.

  • Ear Buds or Muffs.
  • Prescription or Safety Glasses.

5. Everyone Must Sign a Waiver

  • Everyone entering the Range whether you are actively shooting or not must sign a waiver.

6. No Alcohol or Drugs ALLOWED

7. Visible Down Range

  • Everyone walking down range must wear Orange Cap or Vest in order to make yourself highly visible.

8. No Automatic Weapons Permitted

  • NO fully automatic weapons allowed on Range premises.
  • NO Rapid fire of any weapon at any time.

9. Shooter Awareness

  • Keep yourself aware of your target and what is beyond it at all times.
  •  Be aware of the height of the shooting berm, DO NOT elevate your muzzle to an angle that exceeds this height 
  •  NEVER let your muzzle exceed these limitations whether your gun is loaded or not.  

9. FIVE Shot rule

  • Your are allowed a Maximum of 5 Consecutive Shots.
  • You MUST pause 1 second between each shot.
  • After the 5th shot you MUST wait 15 second to allow sound to dissipate, then you may resume firing.
  • RECCOMENDED to only load 5 shells in magazine to avoid exceeding the 5 shot rule.

While behind the firing line:

While behind the firing line, DO NOT touch your firearm. If placed on a preparation surface (table), revolvers open and empty cylinder, semi-automatics empty magazine well, slide open, slide-lock engaged. You may load speed- loaders or magazines freely. DO NOT load cylinders, chambers, or magazines into the firearm until instructed to Load and Make Ready by the R.O. (on the firing line).  

Range Commands

CEASE FIRE
May be issued by ANYONE present. Take your finger off the trigger immediately, stay facing, with your gun pointed, DOWNRANGE. Wait for further instruction from the R.O.

Range is HOT -   (Eye & Ear Protection is REQUIRED, for all, while the range is HOT.)
Do not step, bend, lean, or protrude any part of your body forward of the firing line, FOR ANY REASON.

Load and make ready -
You may load your firearm (this command will only be issued to you while on the firing line)

Commence Fire -
You may fire at will

Make safe and holster -
Finger off the trigger, engage safety, de-cock, etc. – Make your gun safe according to the manufacturer's instructions. Re-Holster your firearm. DO NOT remove your firearm from the holster without R.O. approval or until you are issued the "load and make ready" or "commence fire" command.

Unload and show clear -
Remove all ammunition from your firearm. Revolvers empty cylinder; Semi-automatics remove magazine &clear the chamber.
Present the firearm (POINTED DOWNRANGE) to the R.O. for inspection. (The R.O. will inspect from behind you).

Range is COLD or CLEAR -
Issued only by the R.O. After ALL firearms have been inspected by the R.O., he/she may issue this command. You may move freely, you may go downrange to change/inspect/retrieve your target.

While behind the firing line:

While behind the firing line, DO NOT touch your firearm. If placed on a preparation surface (table), revolvers open and empty cylinder, semi-automatics empty magazine well, slide open, slide-lock engaged. You may load speed- loaders or magazines freely. DO NOT load cylinders, chambers, or magazines into the firearm until instructed to Load and Make Ready by the R.O. (on the firing line).
